Augusto re-ignites its Lydia Ko connection

Downtown Auckland indie agency Augusto has rekindled its relationship with NZ golf star Lydia Ko to create a campaign for The Clubhouse online shop to promote ticket sales to the upcoming LPGA tour – the first time a golfing event of such scale has been held on our shores.

“Rarely do us Kiwis get the opportunity to go see Ko for ourselves,” said Augusto CDs Matt Sellars & Rich Robson. “That’s until now.”

Augusto created and produced Ko’s announcement to the world that she was turning professional at the age of 16 with the #KoGoesPro campaign, featuring Israel Dagg.

The new video features Ko taking an Auckland suburb by surprise as she drives a ball through backyards and chips it over neighbouring fences all the way to Windross Farm – the venue for the event. Commentary is provided by Frank Nobilo and Laura McGoldrick.

“We wanted to create a fun campaign that goes beyond the golfing audience and appeals to Kiwi sports fans all over the country,” said Sellars & Robson.

“It was a fantastic experience working with Lydia on her KoGoesPro video announcement all those years ago and since then, like all Kiwis, we have been proudly watching her take on the world.”

Augusto MD Michelle Walshe said: “We’re thrilled to have had another opportunity to work with Lydia, this time to promote the McKayson New Zealand Women’s Open. The Clubhouse have done an outstanding job in bringing this prestigious LPGA Tour event to our shores and allowing us to see our #1 Kiwi gem play in our backyard.”
