From today, a new and purpose-built www.viva.co.nz that NZME says will deliver the best in fashion, beauty, food, culture, dining out and design, every day. Viva managing editor Amanda Linnell says ramping up Viva’s offering from weekly to daily with a new standalone site is an exciting and natural evolution from the success over the last seven years of her tenure with the weekly Viva Magazine, delivered on Wednesdays with the Herald.

“Viva is a leading and trusted voice for New Zealanders who love the good things in life,” said Linnell. “We’re responding to the clear audience and advertiser demand for a new digital offering that provides more of what our audiences love and a premium environment for our advertisers.”

She says Viva Magazine achieved 12% growth in print advertising last year alone and the new website will give advertisers a raft of expanded opportunities to connect with Viva’s audience.

“Viva is a national brand that our audience will now tune into daily to see what’s trending locally, nationally and internationally. Our advertisers can now explore the increased choices we’re offering them through content partnerships, sponsored stories and the like as we take Viva to the next level.”

NZME commercial director Sandra King says Viva is a powerhouse in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle category delivering an audience of 267,000 every Wednesday. “The Viva brand is developing to capitalise on its captivated and loyal audience, and the transactional opportunities alongside Shop Viva which launched last year,” she said.

“Advertisers can look out for Viva content integrating across our other platforms too as we expand the brand to connect with the Viva audience wherever they are.”

Linnell says Viva is delighted to have Smith & Caughey’s on board as a premium advertising partner for the website’s launch. “Our new site is a beautiful backdrop for our clients,” she said. “We’ve designed it in a magazine style that’s all about Viva’s aspirational but accessible brand.

“In our marketing campaign for the site we’re asking our audience, ‘What inspires you?’. That says it all for us because that’s what our editorial staff love about Viva, giving our audiences inspiration and ideas for living the good life, from around the corner and around the world. Now we get to do it every day.”

The website expansion coincides with Amanda Linnell’s promotion – after seven years of editing Viva – to the new position of managing editor.

Respected fashion journalist Zoe Walker has been promoted from features editor to associate editor and leading fashion stylist Dan Ahwa has been announced as Fashion Editor across Viva and Canvas. Jessica Beresford, formerly of Fashion Quarterly, joins Viva to spearhead the online brand as digital producer.

The Viva editorial team already includes leading beauty editor Janetta Mackay and food editor Nici Wickes. Product sales manager Alice Harwood rounds out the Viva team.

NZME ceo Jane Hastings said Amanda Linnell has led her team with a strong vision to build a “dominating brand in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle category”.

“We are growing the Viva team to keep pace with audience and advertiser demand and to explore exciting new opportunities for Viva across our platforms. In the last year alone Viva’s revenue has grown by 12% and our insights show very clearly that our audiences have an appetite for more of the Viva brand experience,” she says.

“It’s thrilling to connect with a growing and loyal audience by offering them quality curated content. At Viva that’s where we live. It’s all about the good things in life. Our new team will be delivering the best of fresh, premium content from New Zealand and around the world and creating environments our advertisers will love, that reflect Viva as a national, inspirational and aspirational brand.”
