Berlin, Germany, February 12.– Wellington-based creative digital agency Resn has been named Agency of the Year for the second year running at the 2018 Awwwards Global Conference in Berlin.
Awwwards mission is to “recognise the talent and effort of the best web designers, developers and agencies in the world”.
Resn was chosen from a field of the world’s leading digital agencies by the Awwwards jury, a global panel of experts that represents the most important designers, creative directors, bloggers and agencies in the industry.
“At first I thought I was stuck in some sort of time loop. It was terrifying.” said Resn managing director Rik Campbell. “Then I looked at the date and my terror turned to elation. It was too late to take back the blood-curdling scream, but by then I was too happy to care. Two in a row!”
The judges named Resn #1 with 29 votes, Watston/DG USA #2 with 19 votes, and USA’s Hello Monday #3 with 15 votes.
Campbell says Resn’s second AoY title caps off an extraordinary period for the agency, which included major campaigns for adidas, Ford and MailChimp.

In May, Resn expanded into Asia, opening an office in Shanghai, China. It also extended its reach beyond the web, developing hybrid physical-digital installations, including adidas Speedfactory and Kick Creator.
“A contributing factor in Resn’s recent success has been the development of proprietary technologies, such as Cake, its interactive video platform seen in projects like Mailchimp – Veilhymn, Pocket Mustang and, most recently, fafswagvogue.com –The Interactive Documentary,” Campbell said.
Wellington-based global creative director Steve Le Marquand said: “Despite its successes over the last year, the agency isn’t looking back. “If anything, 2018 is going to be even bigger,” said. “We have a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline. Stay tuned.”
