Track, with Eight’s Miki Magasiva, shoots new Slingshot spot

DDB Group customer experience agency Track (formerly Rapp) has unveiled a new Slingshot spot which unveils their bundled power offering, and aims to show Kiwi parents they no longer have to compete with the internet for their kids’ attention.

For the first time, Slingshot is bundling broadband and power into one offering, “which means,” says Slingshot GM Taryn Hamilton, “commanding the two has never been easier.

“The days of begging your kids to leave their bedrooms are over. Slingshot is handing the power back to Kiwi parents – literally.”

The 30” launch spot – Super Broadband Dad – highlights a daily struggle Kiwi parents face and portrays Slingshot as a key part of a classic Kiwi family dialogue.

The spot revisits the Holt family to capture a dilemma familiar to many in 2017: How to get kids off their devices at dinner time. Slingshot gives Super Broadband Dad the power to summon his kids simply by turning off the wifi.

Track creative director Jeff Harris says the campaign recalls family values and reflects the good that can come out of sharing a meal as a family in an era when there are many distractions.

“Because the utilities sector fulfils important needs in a customer’s life, it’s vital for brands like Slingshot to build an emotional connection and be more than just a function,” he says.

Taryn Hamilton said the response to date has exceeded expectations with Slingshot recently named as the top growing power company in Auckland.

“We’re expecting the momentum to build now we’ve gone nationwide and have this excellent spot which acknowledges the role broadband and power plays in the modern Kiwi home. We’re excited to give the power back,” he says.
