GREY LYNN, Yesterday: Curious Film has introduced accomplished fashion and fine art photographer James K Lowe as their newest director.

With his foundations in photography, Lowe’s work has appeared in a long list of solo and group exhibitions both in New Zealand and at photography festivals around the world.

Curious Film MD/executive producer Kate Roydhouse said: “His skill to illuminate and beautify details that would otherwise go unnoticed is what makes his work so distinctive.

“It has earned him a plethora of impressive achievements including first class honours for his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Elam and representing New Zealand at Photoquai at Musee du quai Branly in Paris early in his career.

“Motion has always gone hand in hand with my work. Directly or indirectly it’s been a part of my process.”

“He continues to create outstanding work that is exhibited and recognised globally,” Roydhouse said (via a release).

“His eye for detail enables him to create the poetically stunning visuals that he’s known for. It’s this tone that transitions beautifully into film, as evident in his commercial works and the music video Fit In that he directed for rapper David Dallas’ single in 2017.

“I’ve long admired James’ work and work ethic – his approach is fresh, meticulous and visually enticing.”

Lowe said: “Motion has always gone hand in hand with my work. Directly or indirectly it’s been a part of my process. I’m looking forward to exploring the depth of film even more so with Curious, and to be part of their innovative team.”

Lowe clients have included leaders in fashion and apparel such as Top Shop, Karen Walker, Lonely, adidas and New Balance. His commercial work has taken him to the US, Europe and throughout Asia.
