AUCKLAND, Tuesday: Prescription lenses supplier Essilor NZ (a division of Paris-based Essilor International) has appointed a local national sales & marketing manager. Essilor NZ has no creative agency of record, but has previously worked with NZ comms shops Creature, Just Soap, Incentive Solutions, and of course Impact PR (who supplied the release).

Kumuda Setty, who has 25 years’ experience in commercial roles – including eight years as Essilor NZ marketing manager – will take up the position from this month.

The newly created role will see Setty take responsibility for both sales and marketing of the company’s product lines and continue to help grow the New Zealand market.

“Essilor NZ has previously worked with Creature, Just Soap, Incentive Solutions, and Impact PR (who supplied the release).”

Setty says Essilor’s local customer base can expect to see immediate, positive changes as the company implements a more coordinated approach to match the expectations of eye care professionals it supplies and also provide support for their mutual growth.

Sydney-based Essilor ANZ ceo Pierre Longerna says the new structure will allow greater cross-functional integration.

Longerna says the new role was created to fill the gap left by a senior management team member. “Business manager Chris Aldous has left after an eight-year career with Essilor to pursue a role outside of the optical industry. “We thank him for his leadership and support to Essilor NZ,” he said.

Essilor is expected to announce more appointments in the near future as the company expands its marketing and sales function as well as beginning the search for a new general manager for the New Zealand operation.
