Arrivals & Departures: JWT signs digital strategist

J Walter Thompson New Zealand has appointed Grant Henderson to take the reins of the agency’s digital strategic direction.

Reporting to Jaqueline Smart, head of planning, the position takes on a broad remit across J Walter Thompson’s creative, technical/innovation and media offerings.

“In our willingness to embrace technology-led change and the raft of benefits that brings us as marketers, understanding the voice of the consumer is still an essential factor in how a brand plans to engage and win with consumers,” said J Walter Thompson NZ managing director Simon.


“Grant’s deep understanding of consumers, their usage of technology and digital platforms, and their experience with a brand throughout all relevant touchpoints delivers a key focus to our strategic thinking.”


Henderson has 18 years’ experience in digital marketing, most recently at OMD where he was head of digital strategy for the Auckland office, working across key clients including Air New Zealand and AA Insurance.

Prior to this he was with global digital agency network Isobar as creative director, then general manager, of the Sydney office, engaged in the digital growth of brands including David Jones, Network 10 and Tourism Northern Territory, before returning home to New Zealand.
