AUCKLAND, Today: House of Travel has launched a new brand campaign based on real life stories with the positioning line, Better Together. The campaign has been created by legendary creative director Roy Meares, who was persuaded to put retirement ‘on hold for a few weeks’ by founder/executive chairman Chris Paulsen.

The inspiration for the campaign came after Meares interviewed House of Travel owner-operators throughout the country, being immediately struck by their enthusiasm.

“These stories really sparked with me,” he said. “The owners and staff get a huge buzz out of sitting down and turning their customers’ dreams and plans into holidays that totally exceed their expectations. It is so much a part of their culture.”

“Meares liked the idea of bringing back Tanya Horo – the darling of HoT brand ads a decade ago as the singing, dancing Miss Lucy.”

Chris Paulsen said: “It was time to remind Kiwis and ourselves, just how good we are at what we do.”

Meares and Paulsen also liked the idea of bringing back Tanya Horo who was the darling of the House of Travel brand ads over a decade ago as the singing, dancing ‘Miss Lucy’.

“Tanya now takes on the role of Lucy as a House of Travel consultant, representing all their great stories, happening every day, up and down the country,” says Meares.

The first of the ongoing series was launched on Sunday. Titled Dinosaur, it tackles the myth that travel agents cost you more and the campaign includes cinema, print, outdoor and digital.

Meares surrounded himself with several other legends to make this campaign, including PR guru Angela Griffin and Fish director Gregor Nicholas.

A full-on year
“The ‘few weeks’ of work’ turned into a full-on year, but it’s been fun. And you couldn’t ask for a better client,” Meares said.
