AUCKLAND, Today: Global news services are giving prominence to the Facebook tongue-lashing issued last week by ANZA and the Comms Council.

“New Zealand ad bodies slam Facebook over inaction post-Christchurch,” reported Campaign Asia-Pacific.

“They have continued to rebuke Facebook over its lack of action following the Christchurch terrorist attacks.”

The World Federation of Advertisers also didn’t mince words: “The WFA is calling on brands worldwide to hold Facebook to account over their failure to tackle dangerous and hateful content,” it said in a statement issued at their annual congress in Lisbon.

The statement explicitly expressed support for NZ’s position.

On Friday, TV1 Breakfast featured an insightful interview with Paul Head, in which the Comms Council ceo elaborated in some detail on the joint statement, and urged the Prime Minister to come down hard on Facebook (scroll down for the link).
