AUCKLAND, Today: Senior comms professionals Richard Gordon and Tim Marshall have joined PR consultancy Wright Communications (“the first specialist agency in sustainability communications”).

The agency has recently made four strategic appointments including GAD Richard Gordon, who is responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputations of several key clients using proactive sustainability communications, PR planning and issues management.

His role includes crafting sustainability reports, developing two-way stakeholder relationships and leveraging good deeds through to risk management and crisis preparedness. MD Nikki Wright says he is well placed to provide wrap-around services to enhance corporate reputations.

Another arrival is senior account director Tim Marshall, a life member of the PR Institute of NZ, chief examiner of the accreditation in public relations, and has 30 years’ experience providing strategic communications advice.

Nikki Wright, says sustainability isn’t just a practice, it defines the agency’s reason for being.

“Our team get out of bed every day and choose to work here so they can contribute to some of the most interesting, and often complex, communications challenges happening in the country at any given time,” she says. “Using a corporate social responsibility lens underpins our approach to clients and informs our business ethos.

“Wright Comms achieved carboNZero certification for its own business, offsetting 16 tonnes of carbon emissions.”

“Something else we’re all super proud of is the role we play for the non-profit sector. We are currently telling stories that raise money towards drowning prevention at Auckland beaches, domestic violence regulation in workplaces, reducing the gender pay gap, protecting vulnerable children and eco-labelling to prevent greenwash.

“It’s motivating stuff.”

She says over the last decade Wright Communications has invested in employee training with best practice frameworks for conducting community investment reviews, sustainability reports and measurement (Barcelona Principles) to provide a world class service for their clients.

Also new at the agency are account executive Jessica Morris and intern Hinemoana Douglas.

“Wright Communications is rapidly emerging as a leader in the field of sustainability storytelling for progressive brands in New Zealand and Australasia,” Nikki Wrights says.

“Already this year the team has completed sustainability reports for NZX, OfficeMax, Global Women, and a bilingual integrated report for iwi fisheries business Moana.

“Earlier this month, Wright Communications announced it had achieved carboNZero certification for its own business, offsetting 16 tonnes of carbon emissions with Puhi Peaks Permanent Forest Sink Initiative (PFSI) carbon credits.”
