The Rock counts down

AUCKLAND, Today: The Rock has partnered with QMS to release a series of billboards across Auckland and Christchurch during the station’s annual music countdown, The Rock 1500.

These digital billboards act as a live feed of what’s currently playing on air. The billboards feature the song, artist and countdown placement in a first-of-its-kind digital marketing initiative in New Zealand.

The Rock 1500 is The Rock’s annual music countdown and has been running a decade.

“These digital billboards act as a live feed of what’s currently playing on air.”

The eight-week campaign begins with a teaser week, following by four weeks of collecting votes from the station’s listeners.

Once votes are in, The Rock embarks on the three-week countdown which this year wraps up on Friday 13 September. (The auspicious date of the final day of the countdown was, in fact, the inspiration for the horror theme around this year’s campaign.)

Earlier this week, MediaWorks announced the completion of its strategic merger with QMS NZ.
