AUCKLAND, Today: There’s nobody at work this morning at all Publicis Groupe ANZ agencies in NZ & Australia – they’ve closed for the day in support of World Mental Health Day. In NZ, this includes Starcom, Digitas Affinity ID, MBM and Saatchi & Saatchi.

M+AD tried phoning both Auckland and Wellington offices of Saatchi & Saatchi – and can confirm that nobody answered … not even a machine!

The 1800 ANZ employees of the group have been given the day off as part of a broader mental health programme in New Zealand and Australia. They will return to work tomorrow (Friday).

Publicic Groupe ANZ’s Sydney-based ceo Michael Rebelo (a former Saatchi Wellington GM) said: “We are absolutely committed to ensuring our people can thrive in a mentally healthy workplace.

“Employees with critical commitments will be able to opt out and instead enjoy another day off this year.”

The programme is being driven by something the group calls the ANZ Next Generation board.

Rebelo said: “One of the board’s aims is to create a positive community impact by identifying and addressing social initiatives that intersect with the business.”

The New Zealand-based members of the Next Generation board are: Emma Inglis (Starcom), Sarah Woolerton (Digitas Affinity ID), Sarah Vosloo (MBM) and Ajay Murthy (Saatchi & Saatchi).
