AUCKLAND, Wednesday: NZ-owned full-service indie agency Pitchblack Partners is behind the launch of the new highly noticeable Burger King ‘Big King XL’, generating a day-one sales record, and much chat on social media.

The ads (scroll down for the link) are the latest in a series which invites comparisons between the BK products and their heavyweight rival, the Big Mac.

“We had fun making this with the team at Pitchblack and Jetblack, and can’t wait to see which burger Kiwis prefer.”

BK brand manager Leann Smith said: “The ads, which kicked off this week with a 30” tvc, VOD, influencer partnerships, and outdoor, reveals the new Big King XL as a bigger, beefier, flame-grilled burger, loaded with secret sauce and no gratuitous middle bun.

“Supposedly a ‘big mmmmprovement’.

“We had a lot of fun making this with the team at Pitchblack and Jetblack, and we can’t wait to see which burger Kiwis prefer – and decide once and for all if that middle bun is truly necessary.”

The agency  also issued this note – Campaign disclaimer:  McDonalds [sic] is not associated with this campaign and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
