AUCKLAND, Today: The Gerety Awards has announced a new collaboration for 2025, partnering with Funny Women to shape this year’s Humour category ahead of the final entry deadline on May 9.
Funny Women is a non-profit using comedy to empower female-identifying voices, helping build confidence, spark creativity and promote gender equality across the entertainment industry and beyond since launching in 2002.
Its annual Funny Women Awards began in 2003 and are now open for 2025, sponsored by BBC Studios’ Funny Parts. The group brings a unique voice to this year’s Gerety jury.
The Gerety Awards is named after Frances Gerety, who coined the iconic line “A diamond is forever.” It honours standout campaigns that resonate with powerful consumers and reward smart, effective creativity.
The Humour category recognises campaigns that truly land a laugh — considered one of the sharpest and most difficult creative skills to master in advertising and entertainment.
Funny Women’s votes will join the global executive jury to help select the shortlist, which will be revealed in early June.
“The humour category is an important part of the Gerety winners showcase, and we have seen some fabulous winners in this category over the years, as humour takes back its prominent place in advertising.” – Lucía Ongay
Gerety co-founder Lucía Ongay says, “The humour category is an important part of the Gerety winners showcase, and we have seen some fabulous winners in this category over the years, as humour takes back its prominent place in advertising. We are extremely excited to partner with Funny Women for this unique jury and also sharing the winners with their audience ”
Funny Women founder Lynne Parker adds, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our extended team of brilliant female comedy producers and collaborators from around the world to participate in the amazing Gerety Awards.
“Comedy is integral to memorable advertising and over the years we have discovered some incredibly talented performers, writers and creators who have gone on to work in the wider creative industries. I can’t wait to see what this year brings!”
The 2025 jury includes a record 245 judges from 50 countries. The only judging criteria is originality of the idea and creativity in execution.
The humour jury will be revealed in the coming weeks. Final deadline for entries is Friday, May 9.
