AUCKLAND, Today: Kargo has officially been certified CarbonNeutral®—making it one of the first ad tech agencies to hit this sustainability milestone after a year-long journey grounded in science, transparency and action.
To make it real, Kargo tracked its full global footprint for both 2023 and 2024 before applying for certification, recognising that climate responsibility has to go beyond local borders.
They partnered with The Alpine Project, a consultancy specialising in sustainable practices in ad tech, to take a science-based approach to measuring, reducing, and managing emissions.
Kargo’s 2023 emissions data has been fully verified by third-party reviewer Cameron-Cole. Their 2024 data is almost ready, with final checks scheduled for later this year.
Any emissions they couldn’t eliminate were offset through verified carbon offset projects, supported by the United Nations and managed by The Climate Registry.
“Sustainability and the environment are key issues in the APAC region, as they are globally.” – Robert Leach
“Sustainability and the environment are key issues in the APAC region, as they are globally,” said Robert Leach, Kargo APAC GM. “Walking the walk, not just talking the talk, is very important to Kargo.
“Sustainability matters to us, as it matters to our clients and supply partners. So becoming one of the first ad tech businesses to be certified Carbon Neutral is a proud step forward for our business in APAC.”
Kargo isn’t stopping here. They’re also on track for SBTi certification, locking in formal science-based targets to cut emissions through to 2030.
These goals will be published in the coming months, putting their long-term climate commitments out in the open.
The company has also joined The Climate Registry and Ad Net Zero, two major groups pushing for accountability and climate action in media and marketing.
On top of that, several Kargo leaders are part of Ad Net Zero Action Groups, helping reduce carbon in both tech infrastructure and media planning.
