CHRISTCHURCH, Today: A Christchurch tattoo studio has turned ink into impact, raising enough cash to keep one pet foodbank running through winter — and even help out a second.
The Flash Day event brought in $1,000 for Paws of Hope, a charity that supplies free pet food to Kiwis doing it tough. Twenty-four people showed up for tattoos from a pre-designed flash sheet, including founder Nikki Marchant-Ludlow.
“We were blown away by the support,” says Nikki. “Every tattoo done that day is helping keep pets fed and families together. We are in the planning stages of have added another foodbank to support through winter.”

Since it kicked off, Paws of Hope has delivered over 22,000 pet meals across the country. With the cost of living rising, more people are struggling to care for their animals — some are even in cars or emergency housing.
“Pets are whānau. We’re here to make sure no one has to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their furry best friend,” Nikki says.
Dorothy Swain from Linwood AveTrust says the extra support means a lot. “Our sincere thanks to all those involved in this amazing fundraiser. Your generous efforts have enabled us to continue providing food relief for both pets and their humans.
We understand that animals are essential to the wellbeing of our clients and that many people will feed their pets before they nourish themselves. Thank you for helping us ensure that the entire household has enough to eat this winter!”
The event was backed by long-time Paws of Hope partner Animals Like Us — a local brand known for its ethically made, sustainable pet food.
