AUCKLAND, Today: After nearly four decades in the industry, Toybox Managing Director and Executive Producer Nanette Miles has announced she’ll step down in early 2026, closing an incredible chapter for the Auckland-based production house.

Founded 37 years ago, Toybox built its name on world-class animation, post-production and visual effects. Its creative team has powered countless ad campaigns and brought stories to life for film, TV and global projects.

Under Miles’ leadership, the company has stretched into long-form animation and visual development, alongside VFX work for commercials, dramas and feature films — including the recent hit Tinā.

“I love this industry — the people, the energy and the constant evolution. Navigating the incredible changes driven by new technologies and shifting media appetites hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been, mostly, a lot of fun.

“I wanted to leave Toybox on my own terms, with the company well-positioned for the future. We’ve built a loyal, talented crew who’ve produced an incredible and diverse body of work over the years. I’m enormously proud of them and what we’ve achieved together.

“It’s time now for new challenges for me — and fresh ideas to lead Toybox forward. I’m excited about exploring new opportunities and spending more time with my family and other aspects of life that matter deeply to me.”

Toybox will keep operating from its central Auckland base, continuing to offer creative production and post services for media and entertainment clients across New Zealand and beyond.
