The quiet heroes behind plasma donation step into the spotlight

AUCKLAND, Today: New Zealand Blood Service has kicked off a nationwide campaign with Remade, shining a light on plasma donation and encouraging more Kiwis to roll up their sleeves.

Running over eight weeks, the campaign features real donors from across the country and highlights the life-saving role plasma plays in the recovery of thousands of New Zealanders.

When someone is diagnosed with kidney disease, cancer or suffers severe burns, it can feel like their journey begins there. But recovery often starts long before that, with a generous plasma donor who chose to help.

“Donors are incredible people who generously give their plasma to help someone they will never meet.” – Clara McLaurin, founder and ECD of Remade

“Because the understanding of plasma donation is relatively low, our primary focus was on education,” says Clara McLaurin, founder and ECD of Remade. “We wanted to bring this to life by focusing on the experience and the positive effect it can bring.”

“Donors are incredible people who generously give their plasma to help someone they will never meet. We wanted to show how powerful plasma donation is, and to encourage more of us to give this precious gift,” Clara explains.

By spotlighting real donors and those they help, the campaign celebrates the quiet generosity of plasma donors across Aotearoa.
