ChatGPT rolls out group conversations

AUCKLAND, Today: A new feature is rolling out for ChatGPT users. Now you can invite friends, family or coworkers into a single group conversation that also includes ChatGPT.

Group chats are separate from your personal chats and do not share your private chat memory with others. The pilot is available on desktop and mobile for Free, Go, Plus and Pro users in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan.

“Group chats are separate from your private conversations, and your personal ChatGPT memory is never shared with anyone in the chat.”

In these group chats, ChatGPT can join discussions, help with decisions or ideas, and react with emojis and profile-based responses. You can start a group chat by tapping the people icon, invite up to 20 people via link, and manage who pours into the conversation.

Your personal ChatGPT memory isn’t used in group chats and ChatGPT doesn’t create new memories from them. Control features and parental safeguards are also built in.

This is just the beginning. The team says they’ll learn from feedback and improve group chats before rolling them out more broadly.
