MediaWorks has appointed Mark David as chief commercial officer. “The CCO role is a key part of our executive team reflecting a broad commercial remit and a focus on customer outcomes,” said MediaWorks ceo Mark Weldon.

“Mark really ticked all the boxes with his TV, digital, data and content background both in New Zealand and overseas. He has a proven track record for creating rapid and profitable sales growth in a range of environments and we are truly excited about what he will bring to MediaWorks.”

Weldon also announced that commercial director Paul Hancox has been promoted to group head of revenue role (a role previously held by Liz Fraser, who joined Air NZ last year), and the elevation of integration general manager Alana O’Neill (to the new role as head of the newly merged integration and branded content divisions)..

Weldon said that Hancox would now be working under David to “drive sales outcomes for the organisation,” while O’Neill would be reporting to Glen Kyne who heads the new businesses area.

“Both of these roles are incredibly important for the organisation, and we are confident they will thrive in these positions,” Weldon said.

David is ex TVNZ (research, national agency sales and management of MTV’s advertising sales and marketing).

He moved to MTV Europe in the UK in 1998. He subsequently worked for Chello Zone (thematic channel producer and distributor) as senior vice president of sales and marketing across 19 offices worldwide.

He joined internet start-up Jump TV International in 2006 as managing director.

Over the last eight years David has co-founded three start-up companies including: an IPTV sailing channel, Made Television (UK’s largest local television network with five city channels) and Juzou (technology designed for TV Operators to introduce new user experiences through the implementation of powerful metadata, merchandising and monetisation capability).

“I feel that I can use everything I have learned throughout my career and bring it to bear in this role,” said David.
