Bauer Media Group and mobile marketing company Mobile Embrace have been appointed to the board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

“IABNZ’s purpose is to help grow the wider advertising industry in New Zealand – as the interactive medium becomes increasingly ubiquitous and specialised, Bauer Media and Mobile Embrace’s contributions to the board will be invaluable in helping us achieve our strategic objectives,” said IABNZ ceo Adrian Pickstock.

Bauer and Mobile Embrace join current members NZME, Fairfax, Yahoo!NZ, Yellow, Seek, Vodafone, Google NZ, Mi9, TVNZ, Mediaworks, Trade Me and Met Service as the organisations making up the IABNZ Board.

“The IAB are doing great work and it’s the perfect time to become part of that,” said Bauer Media head of digital Michael Fuyala. “Right now is a pivotal time for digital at Bauer, from close to a standing start a year ago we reached more than a million visitors across our digital touch points last month and have a pipeline of audience-led products rolling out soon.

“I’m looking forward to working with the IAB on shaping innovation in the local market where mobile, social and video are creating exciting new content-led advertising opportunities.”

Mobile Embrace national sales manager Sarah Kavanagh said: ‘Mobile looks set for an exciting couple of years and with the advancements in technology, tracking, targeting capabilities and creativity, the board hopes to encourage greater investment into the medium where the customer is.

My role on the board and as chair of the Mobile Advertising Council will focus on growing mobile share in the NZ market, removing barriers to entry and promoting mobile to the industry, whilst conveying mobile opportunities to brands and agencies alike.’

Pickstock said: “Every sector of the industry is now well represented on the IABNZ board, which will make for spirited debate and, most importantly, for positive results that take the needs of all our members into account. We’re looking forward to a productive 2015’.
