AUCKLAND, Today: Clemenger BBDO, DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi and VMLY&R are currently engaged in a pitch for arguably the most prestigious e-commerce advertising account in NZ, according to an article written by former Stop Press editor Damien Venuto on the NZ Herald’s premium content page.

Trade Me has used a number of different agencies recently – but has no permanent incumbent.

Venuto reports that Trade Me chief customer officer Regan Savage confirmed industry rumours that he was on the hunt for a creative partner who would look after the core brand and retail aspects of the business.

“The winner will face the challenge of solidifying Trade Me’s position as a Kiwi company.”

According to Nielsen ad spend figures, Trade Me’s advertising spend over the past three years has varied between $3.2 million and $8.3 million annually.

“Trade Me was recently sold to offshore interests for around $2.56 billion,” Venuto writes. “Whoever wins the pitch will face the challenge of solidifying the company’s position as a Kiwi company.”
