AUCKLAND, Friday: Chris Flack from Strategy Creative has been named the only Kiwi judge on the 2025 Communication Arts Design Awards panel — one of the most respected honours in visual communication worldwide.
Now in its 66th year, the global competition celebrates the best in branding, packaging, digital, editorial and experiential work. Flack joins a line-up of nine international creative leaders.
“This is one of those milestone moments — to be sitting alongside such a globally respected jury is an honour,” says Flack.
“But more importantly, it’s a chance to bring a uniquely Kiwi perspective to the table.”
He’s been behind some of Strategy Creative’s most standout work — like rebranding Christmas, the TEDx ping pong explosion, and climate protest campaign Mate Act Now.
“Chris being invited to judge at Communication Arts is not just a big win for him, but for New Zealand design as a whole.” – Fraser Callaway
Most recently, he helped launch Te Anau Time — a tourism campaign that created its own time zone. That project picked up a D&AD Wood Pencil for creative use of budget.
“Chris being invited to judge at Communication Arts is not just a big win for him, but for New Zealand design as a whole,” says Fraser Callaway.
“It speaks to the kind of ideas-first, globally relevant work coming out of our studios — and we couldn’t be prouder.”
Flack hopes more Kiwis throw their work in the ring, “If you’ve been sitting on work you’re proud of — this is the moment to back yourself and put it out there.”
Entries for the 2025 awards close 2 May, with late entries accepted until 16 May (US$10 fee).
