AUCKLAND, Today: The Battle of the Ad Bands (BOTAB) turned 16 last night and celebrated in style at Galatos, with balloons, streamers and a setlist packed full of singalong pop hits.
Ten agency bands hit the stage, but it was Kill Enzo from Colenso BBDO who wowed the crowd. Their Lady Gaga and TLC mash-up had the room buzzing, earning them the BOTAB 2025 crown. As champs, they’ll also get to create their own ice cream flavour: Axe Body Spray.
Judges Keyzie, Boh Runga and Peter Vegas praised every act, but Kill Enzo stole the show and took home:
- A $100 Sal’s Pizza voucher
- Their own Much Moore ice cream flavour
- A $600 Prego lunch
- A recorded studio session gifted by Boh Runga
- The iconic BOTAB trophy
The spotlight also shone on Darija Bulic from Together’s band Out of Scope, who picked up Best Performer for her powerhouse vocals and standout guitar chops.
BOTAB is as much about community as competition, and the night was full of laughter, spot prizes and big singalongs. None of it would’ve happened without this year’s sponsors: Apex Insurance, Huffer, Much Moore, Coffee Supreme, Prego, Radio Hauraki and Sal’s Pizza.
A massive shout-out to all the bands who rocked the stage:
- The Poster Boys (oOh!media & Shout Media)
- Out of Scope (Together)
- The Stanleys (Stanley St)
- Ange From Accounts (MBM)
- Auckland Fish Market (Flying Fish)
- Reasons to Believe (FCB)
- Kill Enzo (Colenso BBDO)
- The Dents (Dentsu)
- Last Strand Standing (Saatchi & Saatchi)
- Death Star (DDB)
