AUCKLAND, Today: Rideshare company Ola’s quick response to three complaints has drawn praise from the Advertising Standards Complaints Board.

The complaints related to discounts offered in its TV ads. Ola has no agency of record but works with Auckland creative shop Crave on a project-by-project basis. Crave was not involved in the TV project.

Ola’s PR agency Boyd PR did issue a statement on behalf of its client (scroll down).

“Given the advertiser’s cooperative, self-regulatory action, the Complaints Board ruled the complaints were Settled.”

The ASA decision said: “Given the advertiser’s cooperative engagement with the process and the self-regulatory action taken in amending the advertisement to make the disclaimers more prominent, the Complaints Board ruled the complaints were Settled.”

The Ola statement: “Ola is pleased that the ASA is satisfied that our advertising claim about 50% off for new customers is substantiated and unlikely to mislead consumers.

“Ola respects the important role that the ASA plays and is proud of the collaborative relationship that we maintain with authorities.

“We remain committed to being fully compliant with all New Zealand codes and upholding the highest possible advertising standards.”
