AUCKLAND, Today: Cult horror director Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones, The Devil’s Candy) returns with Dangerous Animals — a raw, ocean-bound survival thriller now hitting cinemas.

Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) stars as Zephyr, a rebellious surfer abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer, played by Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad, American Primeval). Trapped on his boat, she must outwit him before becoming bait.

“Stuffed to the gills with memorable shocks and a thrillingly unhinged heel turn by Jai Courtney, ‘Dangerous Animals’ will be irresistible chum for horror aficionados.” – Rotten Tomatoes

Blending human horror with shark-movie tension, Dangerous Animals has been praised for its gritty tone, tight pacing, and terrifying performances. It premiered at Cannes in May and hits Aussie cinemas on 12 June. NZ release coming soon.

Critics are calling it “a grisly thrill ride” and “a fresh, bloody surprise.” With real shark footage, minimal CGI, and a 98-minute runtime, this lean horror flick packs bite.
