AUCKLAND, Today: Rhett D’Arrietta has joined the Reel Factory director roster, bringing his mix of daydreaming energy and creative problem solving to the team.
He’s rhythm-driven, loves humour and set design, and is known for turning small ideas into surprisingly big productions.
Rhett grew up on a goat farm in Tasmania and has a reputation for stretching budgets, including once making a music video for $50, which somehow worked.
He’s amped to be back in Aotearoa and keen to dive into new projects. “I’ve always loved working in NZ so it’s exciting to be back here working with new people.
“I’m looking forward to making more with them, and indulging in more of those delicious Pineapple Lumps.” – Rhett D’Arrietta
“Reel Factory is a super unique house to get plugged into and work with. They have a lot of toys and people who know how to use them. I love their creative collaborative approach to making things, it really suits the way I work.

On set, Rhett thrives on complex builds, unusual character choreography and ideas that require smart thinking to stretch every dollar further. He also worked with PSY before ‘Gangnam Style’ took over the world, which is a fun brag.
