AUCKLAND, Monday: As widely anticipated, the Comms Council has announced a “difficult decision” to move the 2021 Effie Aotearoa Awards in association with TVNZ to a virtual event – for the second year in a row.
“Unfortunately,” said the council in a supplied, unsigned statement, “due to the uncertainty around alert-levels, the awards will now be hosted via our website on Wednesday 10 November at 5pm.
“After a year that forced us all apart, we know everyone was looking forward to an opportunity to come together and celebrate the most effective advertising campaigns in Aotearoa this year.
“Effie wouldn’t be possible without TVNZ, oOh!, NZME, Nielsen, TRB, Facebook, Google, Cartology, and Neuro-Insights.”
“The Effie Awards wouldn’t be possible without the support of our fantastic sponsors – so a massive thanks to TVNZ our commercial partner and major sponsor.
“We would also like to thank oOh!Media our commercial partner and NZME, Nielsen, The Radio Bureau, Facebook, Google, Cartology, and Neuro-Insights for their ongoing support for Effie and throughout this year.”
- The awards will be hosted virtually, and links to watch the show will become available at www.commscouncil.nz, and on social channels.
