AUCKLAND, Today: Eleven PR has been appointed by Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific, to manage its New Zealand public relations. The incumbent was Campbell & Co – but there was reportedly no pitch.

Tasked with growing the Cathay Pacific brand presence in New Zealand and raising awareness of its expansive global network and young fleet, the appointment will see Eleven PR manage the airline’s consumer public relations and crisis management.

The appointment comes as Cathay Pacific celebrates the arrival of the super-advanced A350-1000, along with an increased flight schedule for Christchurch.

“It’s an attractive proposition for clients who have offices in both New Zealand and Australia.”

Eleven MD Angelina Farry said, “We’re passionate about travel and excited to be partnering with Cathay Pacific to raise awareness of their brand in this market.

“Eleven offers best-in-class local PR strategy plus a Transtasman operating model.

“This means our Transtasman clients benefit from a collaborative PR team working to one unified strategy, using shared methodologies. It’s an attractive proposition for clients who have offices in both New Zealand and Australia.”

Cathay Pacific ANZ regional head of marketing & digital Louise Rathbone (who’s based in Sydney) said: “PR is a key component of our regional marketing strategy. With the implementation of a Transtasman agency model we are now working more collaboratively with one PR team who seamlessly share strategy and best practice, helping us to reduce double-handing and optimise outputs.

“This in turn is allowing us to concentrate our marketing efforts on elevating our brand presence in Australia and New Zealand.”
