PARIS, Thursday: The Epica Awards has added Gender Equity to its range of Public Interest categories for the 2019 edition, which is currently open for entries.

The category creates a dedicated space for campaigns in any medium concerning women’s rights, inclusion and empowerment, LTGBQIA+ rights and positive actions concerning gender identity.

The category was proposed by Epica comms officer Katia Chelpanova, who said: “Previously this type of campaign fell within our Social category, but in the wake of the #MeToo movement and amid concerns about approaches to gender equity and identity around the world, I felt it was necessary to specifically highlight these issues.”

“Epica is the only creative comp judged by journalists, guaranteeing objectivity for entrants and press coverage for winners.”

Gender Equity becomes the second new category to be introduced for this season’s Epica Awards, after Creative Use of Data, announced earlier in the year.

The prize joins the Public Interest categories alongside Social, Environmental and Health & Safety

The Epica Awards are currently open for entries until November 1, with an “early bird” discount until August 31. Epica is the only global creative competition judged by journalists, guaranteeing objectivity for entrants and press coverage for winners. It covers advertising, design, PR and digital.
