The winners of this year’s CAANZ Battle of the Ad Bands charity auction, Yahoo NZ, enjoyed a sumptuous 11-course meal created personally by Simon Gault at Euro Bar & Restaurant on Auckland’s Princes Wharf last week.

Joining them was NZ music legend Dave Dobbyn, returning this week from a triumphant appearance at the last night of The Winery Tour 2015 in Canterbury over the weekend.

Yahoo NZ’s winning bid contributed to a fundraising result from the annual ad agency band extravaganza that allowed The New Zealand Music Foundation to replace vital band equipment at a community youth music project in central Wellington, and also to supply a state of the art keyboard to a choir in Auckland that works with people with neurological conditions to help them regain the power of communication.

“We had an absolute ball last night and we were very happy to welcome Dave and the team from Yahoo NZ to our restaurant,” Gault said. “Music and food are intimately linked, and knowing that we were helping The New Zealand Music Foundation to change the lives of people in need through music made the evening very special.”

The New Zealand Music Foundation general manager Peter Dickens said: “We’d like to congratulate Yahoo NZ and give our heartfelt thanks to Dave Dobbyn, Simon Gault, Katie and the whole team at Euro. The help this has given both to a project engaging at-risk youth in our capital through music and a choir that measurably improves outcomes for people with neurological conditions can’t be overestimated and vividly illustrates the positive effect music can have in all parts of our lives.”

CAANZ is set for this year’s agency band shoot out in September and looks forward to again working closely with The New Zealand Music Foundation at the event.
