Flem & Astle pad up for Fujitsu

NZ cricket legends Stephen Fleming and Nathan Astle have filmed a new TVC campaign for Fujitsu Heat Pumps. The ads come out of Auckland agency Raw Advertising and are produced by Sauce Wellington.

The nine 15-second TVCs feature the Fleming & Astle gentling ribbing each other as they settle in front of the TV for the upcoming feast of one-day cricket matches. They dress up in their old beige brigade regalia, the Aussie underarm tale, and the odd decision Astle makes to wear a box while watching the telly.

The TVCs will be shown in New Zealand during all 74 upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup matches on Sky from February14- March 29, as well as a general schedule across TVNZ, TV3, Prime, Choice and radio.

Fujitsu marketing manager Fiona Harris made the call to use Raw and Sauce to help develop the ads.

Fleming said: “It’s fun making these kinds of commercials but it’s even better when you get to bring your mate along. We had a great time filming.”

Fleming is currently coaching the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, and works with CricHQ, an app designed to help develop cricket among young Kiwis. Fleming also represents New Zealand’s business interests in India. He still plays golf with Astle, whose passion when not couch surfing is racing sprint cars.
