AUCKLAND, Today: Fresh capital is fuelling Contented’s next chapter, with the Christchurch AI startup closing a $4.1 million seed round to scale its conversation-to-insight platform globally.
The oversubscribed raise was led by Altered Capital, alongside Shearwater Capital, K1W1, Icehouse Ventures, Aspire NZ Seed Fund, Phase One Ventures and Exhort Ventures.
Co-founder Hannah Hardy-Jones says the backing unlocks serious growth. “We’ve had really strong interest from a great range of investors and this funding is going to allow us to deepen our feature set, expand our customer base, and push hard into new territories like the UK and US,” said Hardy-Jones.
Hardy-Jones and Lucy Pink founded Contented after building separate startups and bonding over AI’s potential to reshape business.
The platform records meetings, video calls and in-person discussions, then converts them into structured documents and insights using customisable templates.
“The global premium meat exporter uses Contented to record meetings across the business, from plant floors to the boardroom, turning them into their key documents – meeting minutes, health and safety reports, and more.” – Lucy Pink, co-founder Contented
“We work with businesses of all sizes – from growing SMEs through to some of New Zealand’s biggest organisations. Alliance Group is a great example,” said Pink.

In just a year, Contented has grown from a handful of customers to more than $1.4 million in annual recurring revenue, entirely bootstrapped.
Now used by more than 200 customers globally, it spans wealth management, healthcare, government and enterprise. “Contented’s growth trajectory is remarkable and among the fastest we’ve seen in New Zealand,” said Finn Templeton of Altered Capital.
“It’s a testament to both the product as well as Lucy and Hannah as founders.
“Contented generates structured insight and business value out of conversations, effectively turning talk into scalable intellectual assets and unlocking a previously unused source of value. We’re delighted to partner with Hannah and Lucy to help fuel Contented’s growth.”

Pink believes conversations are one of business’s most overlooked assets. “We believe conversations are the most underutilised resource in business. We’re here to change that,” says Pink.
“Our vision is for Contented to power every conversation for the best companies of today and tomorrow. We’re building the operating system for conversations, turning them into business-critical outputs.”
Customers include Synlait, Craigs Investment Partners, Alliance Group, Awanui Group, Christchurch Airport and Apollo Projects, alongside SMEs worldwide. Financial services is proving especially strong.
“In a wealth management firm, using our technology in a single client meeting can generate a statement of advice, an assets and liabilities table, a family tree, even a LinkedIn thought leadership article.”
Pink says the goal is removing friction and freeing up time.
“Everything we do is about empowering people to work smarter. Our technology is human-first and frees up more human time for the stuff that matters most to organisations.”
The new funding will support expanded templates for areas like HR and recruitment, deeper CRM and Microsoft Office integrations, and continued AI development.
Headcount will jump from five to around 15 in the next two months, with roles across development, go-to-market and customer success.
