AUCKLAND, Today: Hayu is giving Kiwi viewers a bigger couch-menu problem, with the streamer expanding beyond reality TV into movies, iconic series and premium scripted shows.
The update is exclusive to Aotearoa, making New Zealand the only one of Hayu’s 45 markets to receive the expanded content offering.
The refreshed platform will add blockbuster movies, classic TV favourites and exclusive scripted series to Hayu’s already hefty unscripted line-up.
It also shifts the service into broader general entertainment territory, while still keeping the reality chaos, reunions and group dinners fans know exactly too much about.
The scripted line-up features names including Jennifer Garner, Regina King, Gemma Chan, Chloë Sevigny, Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Izuka Hoyle and Tahar Rahim.
New titles include first-run scripted drama series exclusive to Hayu, including Hacks S4 and S5, Prisoner, The Five Star Weekend and Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy.
The movie slate includes Jurassic World Rebirth, Wicked: For Good, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and Prime Minister.
Hayu is also adding classic comedies including The Office, Parks and Recreation and Will and Grace.
For reality fans, Hayu will continue serving up the titles viewers love watching, dissecting and occasionally pretending they are not deeply invested in.
That includes The Real Housewives, Below Deck and Vanderpump Rules, available in New Zealand before anywhere else locally and on the same day as the USA.
Hendrik McDermott, MD, International DTC NBCUniversal, and Chris Taylor, MD, NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-to-Consumer and Distribution, APAC and Executive Chairman of Bravo New Zealand, have both commented on the expansion.
