AUCKLAND, Today: Are Media has brought Jacqui Loates-Haver back to helm Kia Ora, Air New Zealand’s flagship inflight magazine, kicking off a fresh chapter for the long-running title.
Loates-Haver isn’t new to the cockpit, having edited the magazine from 2017 to 2020 and previously steering it to record readership and its strongest commercial run yet.
Her return follows Virginia Larson’s retirement after five years leading the publication.
Welcoming her back, Are Media General Manager Stuart Dick said, “We’re delighted to have Jacqui leading Kia Ora into a new era. She knows the brand intimately and has a proven track record of editorial excellence and commercial success.
“I am looking forward to bringing the insight and experience I have developed over the past five years to the role and taking the brand to the next level.” – Jacqui Loates-Haver
“We look forward to seeing her build on the strong foundations already in place to expand the magazine’s influence, both in the air and beyond.”
With millions of travellers picking it up each year, the appointment signals Are Media’s continued push to deliver premium storytelling that showcases Aotearoa to the world.
“Kia Ora is such a unique publication and has always been a career highlight for me, so I am excited to have the opportunity to return to the editor’s desk and reconnect with the audience,” said Loates-Haver.
“I am looking forward to bringing the insight and experience I have developed over the past five years to the role and taking the brand to the next level. Kia Ora has always been about celebrating the people and places of Aotearoa – supercharging our country to the rest of the world. There is no better brief for an editor.”
Loates-Haver steps into the role in late March.
