AUCKLAND, Today: Scapegrace Distilling Co. is adding another international trophy to the cabinet, with Anthem Single Malt Whisky taking Gold at the World Whiskies Awards 2026.
Anthem topped the New Zealand Small Batch Single Malt category, earning Gold at one of the most respected whisky competitions in the world.
The World Whiskies Awards are widely seen as the benchmark for global whisky judging, with entries reviewed by leading industry experts from around the globe. Scapegrace Co-Founder Mark Neal says the win is a big moment for the team.
“This is another really exciting win for Anthem and for our distillery,” said Neal. “To be recognised with Gold at the World Whiskies Awards is a huge honour and a testament to the skill, care and innovation that goes into our whisky.”

Neal says Anthem is unapologetically New Zealand in its make-up. “Anthem is distilled using locally grown barley, including our distinctive Manuka-smoked malt, cut with pristine glacial water and matured in the extreme Central Otago climate.
“Those conditions create real depth, balance and character in the whisky, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that recognised on the world stage.”
The award continues a strong run of international success for Scapegrace, following multiple wins across major global spirits competitions in recent years.
Anthem is available nationwide with a recommended retail price of $89.99.
