
AUCKLAND, Today: Spark has teamed up with Colenso on a fresh brand campaign that celebrates how life feels better with a powerful network. It also marks the launch of Spark’s new positioning: It’s better with Spark.
Yes, Spark already has bragging rights — Opensignal’s September 2024 report named them #1 for mobile coverage in New Zealand. But this campaign is about more than awards, it’s about the feeling of better.
Hannah Bay, Brand Experience Chapter Area Lead at Spark NZ says “Our new campaign is an ode to discovery – more connection, more possibilities, more of what matters to you with Spark. We hope it brings a sense of joy and wonder to New Zealanders.”
At the heart of the campaign is a film directed by Damien Shatford from The Sweetshop. It begins with phone issues, then flips into the unexpected when a young woman borrows her friend’s Spark-connected phone.

From there, things get surreal. The car splits in two, sending her flying across the country in just the passenger section. It’s a playful twist that shows how Spark powers journeys you never saw coming.
Kimberley Ragan, Colenso Group Creative Director says “We set out to tell a story that draws people in and gets them curious about our network. And what better way than Spark powering someone’s cross-country journey in a quarter of a car? It’s bold, it’s joyful, and it captures the feeling of being with Spark.”
The campaign officially launched on September 21 with a two-minute hero spot screening in cinemas.
It’s also rolling out as 90, 60, 30 and 15-second edits, supported by social content and placements across a wide range of media channels.
