AUCKLAND, Today: Lotto NZ has taken its Imagine platform to the mountains with a bold brand experience from Bastion Shine’s Communications and Experience team, lighting up the Snow Machine festival at The Remarkables in Queenstown.
The Powerball Polar Bare Cheeky Promise activation was inspired by Lotto’s TV ad where a Powerball winner fulfils his wild promise to ski naked down a slope.
At the Polar Bare event, more than 300 pairs of togs printed with Kiwi promises were handed out. These ranged from playful dares like “Swim with sharks” to heartfelt pledges like “Give my time to good causes.”
Lotto NZ Head of Brand Genna Duff said the activation captured the same fun, cheeky energy as one of 2025’s most talked-about and complained-about ads.
“The Polar Bare is all about freedom, fun, and doing something a little outrageous – exactly the kind of spirit we wanted to capture in our Imagine campaign.” – Genna Duff
“The Polar Bare is all about freedom, fun, and doing something a little outrageous – exactly the kind of spirit we wanted to capture in our Imagine campaign. Cheeky Promise extended that story into the real world.”
Before the race, the promised-filled togs created a colourful media wall that doubled as a backdrop for participants and festivalgoers. Anyone wearing the togs went into the draw to win one of three $1,000 prizes.
Bastion Shine’s Managing Director of Communications and Experience, Joanna James, said the team relished bringing Lotto’s Imagine campaign to life.
“We wanted to produce something that had strong potential for broadcast, social, and PR. The activation generated high-energy moments on and off the mountain thanks to the event’s visual appeal, the emotive promises submitted by New Zealanders, and natural synergy with the Imagine campaign narrative.”
