AUCKLAND, Today: M+C Saatchi Group ANZ has appointed Simon Wassef as Group Chief Strategy Officer, a new role designed to boost the Group’s leadership strength and strategic firepower across the region.
With global experience spanning Australia, Europe, the UK and the US, Simon brings deep expertise in brand, experience and innovation, reinforcing M+C Saatchi’s Cultural Power proposition.
He joins after two years at Clemenger BBDO as Chief Strategy and Experience Officer, where he developed integrated platforms for brands including HCF, Great Northern Brewing Company, MYER, Samsung, Carlton Dry and the Federal Government. He was also part of the team behind Clemenger’s double-Gold performance at the 2025 Effies.
A Grand Effie and AFR Most Innovative Companies winner, Simon has held senior roles at AKQA London and Sydney, TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, Droga5 Sydney and R/GA London.
He’s also committed to broader industry change, serving on the ACA’s CREATE SPACE steerco and teaching AdSchool’s Advanced Strategy course.

In his new role, Simon will lead M+C Saatchi’s strategic direction and capability across Australia and New Zealand, driving meaningful impact for clients.

His appointment completes the M+C Saatchi leadership team under CEO Dani Bassil. Simon will work alongside Group Chief Creative Officer Emma Robbins, Managing Director Tanya Vragalis, Chief Marketing Officer Anita Zanesco, Managing Partner Passions & PR Rhian Mason, and Managing Director M+C Saatchi Consulting and Re, Ben Harrison.
The role follows a string of senior hires, including Client Experience Director Topher Jones, Client Partner Louise Rutherford and National Executive Creative Director Jeremy Hogg, further strengthening the Group’s creative and strategic capabilities.
