AUCKLAND, Monday: MediaWorks has challenged yesterday’s M+AD opinion piece about Love Island NZ being held back till next year.

A MediaWorks spokesperson said: “It’s categorically untrue that Love Island NZ is not airing in 2019 due to the current ratings performance of Love Island on Three.

“Our decision to take the NZ version out of 2019 is due to the challenging advertising market and wanting the best for the format.”

Love Island NZ will not be in the schedule for this year but we are looking to schedule it into 2020,” the statement said.

“The UK version of Love Island is doing huge numbers on ThreeNow, with 5.1 million streams to date and we are thrilled with its performance.

“Our decision to take the NZ version out of 2019 is due to the challenging advertising market and wanting the best for the format.”
