AUCKLAND, Today: MintHC has strengthened its leadership team, appointing marketing legend Mike Hutcheson to its board while also naming Robert Capon as General Manager to boost its digital and AI-driven expertise.
Hutcheson is one of New Zealand’s most respected creative and business leaders. He co-founded Colenso BBDO, launched HKM in the 80s, led Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland, and later became an Adjunct Professor at AUT. He was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Fame in 2021.
“I believe the future of business communication lies with MintHC’s unrivalled expertise in harnessing emerging technologies, analytics, and, in particular, AI,” says Hutcheson.
“Traditional communication strategies often relied on big creative bangs, much of which was wasted. MintHC, however, focuses on creatively targeting specific business solutions – and that’s the future!”

Alongside Hutcheson’s appointment, MintHC has welcomed Robert Capon as General Manager. With leadership roles at Oliver Wyman, Mercer, and Synlait Milk, Capon brings global experience across finance, operations, and large-scale transformation projects.
“MintHC isn’t constrained by old industry habits,” says Capon. “I was drawn to their appetite for doing things differently, and for embracing emerging technologies like AI to solve real problems for clients. I’m looking forward to helping shape the next phase of growth.”
CEO and co-founder Shayne Moore says the dual appointments highlight MintHC’s ambitions. “Bringing Mike onto our board and welcoming Rob as GM demonstrates the scale of ambition we have for MintHC. These appointments strengthen our ability to support clients with both strategic insight and operational delivery.”
With offices in Christchurch and Auckland, MintHC continues to expand its team and capabilities. The latest hires follow eight new additions across strategy, tech, and creative, reinforcing the consultancy’s investment in people to drive growth for New Zealand businesses.
