AUCKLAND, Today: Motion Sickness has added five new hires across strategy, creative and client service. The moves follow a year of strong growth and award-winning campaigns.
Recent work includes a Global Grand Effie for Fire and Emergency NZ, plus new accounts like Pizza Hut, Heart of the City, Waitoa Chicken and Whānau Ora.
The new team members are Emma Richardson (Client Service Director), Julia Shasha (Senior Account Manager), Alexandra Clark (Account Manager), Logan Barnes (Strategist) and returning writer Sylvia Humphries (Senior Copywriter).
Motion Sickness Partner and GM Alex McManus says the hires are all about investing in great people and building on momentum.
“We’re continuing to invest in talented people who are very good at what they do – these five are exactly that. And we’re so happy to have Sylvia back. I think her return, after honing her craft even further overseas, is a real testament to the culture and shared ambition we’ve built here at Motion Sickness.”
Richardson steps into the newly created Client Service Director role. She brings nearly 20 years’ experience leading campaigns, brand strategy and transformation across major local and global brands.
Says Emma, “Motion Sickness has built its name on doing things differently – bold work, big ambition, and a culture shaped by incredible people and partnerships. It’s a team I’ve admired for a long time, so I’m excited to be part of their next chapter, and the opportunity to help drive this new phase of growth.”

Shasha brings a strategic mindset and a background in creative-led agencies, with experience across brand identity, campaigns and product launches.
Clark joins full-time after working with the team earlier this year. Her experience spans production and client service — with a reputation for calm delivery and collaborative energy.
Barnes has hit the ground running as Strategist. Working with Head of Strategy Hilary Ngan Kee, he’s already influencing work across behaviour change and brand fame.
Humphries returns to Aotearoa after several years abroad, including time at DDB Berlin. She rejoins as Senior Copywriter, strengthening the agency’s creative output.
“I had to come back just to figure out how to mute the pan flutes on the Motion Sickness website. Then I discovered the new office was across from the Vegan Shop — seemed perfect.
“Except the shop is closed now. Awkward. But honestly, at this point, why go anywhere else when for 3 years they’ve kept me jealous over the work they’re making right here?”
The hires round out a big year, with local and international recognition at the Effies and AOY Global Awards.
