AUCKLAND, Today: Motion Sickness has been named the leading agency across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific in the 2025 Cannes Lions Global Creativity Report — also ranking among the world’s top five independent agencies.

The recognition cements Motion Sickness’ reputation as one of the most progressive and impactful independents in the game, standing tall on the global stage of creative excellence.

“We’ve always believed great creativity can come from anywhere – and it’s pretty incredible to see that belief recognised on the world’s biggest stage.” – Alex McManus, Partner and GM at Motion Sickness

“It means a lot to this team,” said Alex McManus, Partner and GM at Motion Sickness. “We’ve always believed great creativity can come from anywhere – and it’s pretty incredible to see that belief recognised on the world’s biggest stage. We’re proud of the work, proud of the people, and proud to be part of a region that’s punching well above its weight creatively.”

One of the agency’s standout moments this year came with the New Zealand Herpes Foundation campaign, Make New Zealand the Best Place in the World to Have Herpes, which picked up two Grand Prix awards at Cannes Lions 2025.

The achievement caps a huge year for Motion Sickness, whose bold, culture-cutting ideas continue to drive brand platforms, campaigns, and cultural moments across Australasia and beyond — redefining what it means to be an independent agency today.
