SYDNEY, Thursday: David Nobay, the legendary founder of Publicis-owned creative agency Marcel Sydney, is set to depart after four years.

Aussie site Mumbrella reports he is departing the agency to launch a new venture with production company Fin Design & Effects.

Nobay, who was previously the creative chairman at Droga5 Australia, set up the Sydney branch of Marcel in 2015. At the time, Nobay brought over Droga5′s last remaining client, Tiger Beer, to set up the new shop.

David Nobay is set to depart Marcel later this month.

Prior to his eight year stint at Droga5, Nobay was an ECD at Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi for five years.

When the underperforming Droga5 Australia closed in September 2015, Nobay was accused by former colleagues of taking his eye off the ball and pursuing his own vanity projects.
