Wellington web-based video strategy & production company Stem Creative has made its debut into original content with seven 6-10 minute episodes of a new comedy web series, Agency – shot with help from “bold corporate sponsors” and a strong crowdfunding response.

Agency is a comedy series about a small creative advertising agency staffed by three hapless but genuine marketing wannabes. “It’s for anyone who has ever had an irritating boss, an impossible client, a production disaster, a blundered pitch, a work-related ethical dilemma or a drink too many at the company Christmas function,” Stem’s Ben Forman said.

Mad Men it ain’t. But Forman, Glen Puklowski, and Judah Finnigan of Stem have nicely captured – and skewered – life in a typical NZ agency.

“We wanted to make something creative and fun, and to do it on our own terms, and the web series format felt like the perfect fit for that,” Forman said.

It was shot by an enthusiastic team of seasoned industry professionals and talented young rookies. Production began in Wellington in February.
