The Sydney-based Australasian creative event, the 38th AWARD Awards show, has issued its call for entries – this year with creative out of Y&R NZ, Liquid Studios, and Auckland-based creative technology company Electric Art.

AWARD is run by the Australasian Writers & Art Directors Association – and this year has launched a Best in Show solid gold trophy.

Reflecting the debut of this new award, this year’s campaign theme is Digging Deep, which aims to demonstrate the tenacity required by creatives to strike gold at AWARD. The campaign was created by 2015 AWARD Agency of the Year Y&R New Zealand and produced by Electric Art and Liquid Studios.

“This year Y&R New Zealand has developed strikingly beautiful creative for our Call for Entries campaign,” said AWARD Chair Wilf Sweetland. “For the very first time, an awards show really will be awarding gold. Our Best In Show Pencil will feature a solid gold tip, celebrating the hard work that goes into digging for that gold idea.”

Y&R NZ CD Guy Denniston said: “Having those big ideas is explained away with words like ‘inspiration’ and ‘flashes of brilliance’, but the reality is much more boring. Doing great creative just takes a lot of hard work. It takes digging deeper, past all the shit ideas, all the mediocre ideas and the pretty good ideas.

“This campaign celebrates the real graft behind the craft.”

AWARD is offering an early bird discount of 10% for entries submitted before Monday 17 October, with all entries closing on Friday 2 December. Late entries will be accepted up until Monday 12 December though a late fee will apply.

This year eligibility dates have been extended to cover the full call for entries period through into early 2017; any work first aired or published between the 6th November 2015 and the 31st January 2017.
