AUCKLAND, Today: Auckland-based independent agency One Plus One Communications is expanding south, appointing Esther Robinson as Director of Government Relations and officially launching a Wellington presence alongside a dedicated Government Relations offering.

The move signals a key growth step, driven by rising demand in the capital. A formal base in Wellington strengthens ties to the parliamentary precinct and deepens strategic counsel across regulatory and public policy issues.

Robinson brings more than a decade of experience across government relations and public affairs, spanning politics, communications and corporate advisory.

She previously served as a Senior Political Advisor during the Fifth and Sixth Labour Governments, and most recently sharpened her consulting credentials at Acumen.

Outside the day job, Robinson co-hosts 3 Gals 1 Beehive, a popular independent political podcast led by former Beehive staffers, offering weekly analysis on developments in New Zealand politics.

One Plus One Communications Managing Director Kelly Bennett says the hire marks a defining moment for the agency.

“I’m excited to get stuck in helping One Plus One’s great clients achieve big things in the year ahead.” – Esther Robinson

“Esther’s appointment is a significant step forward for One Plus One. Our clients are increasingly operating in environments shaped by policy. Having senior, Wellington-based expertise allows us to contribute and operate more effectively where decisions are made.”

In the new role, Robinson will build and lead the Government Relations practice, supporting clients across professional services, finance, technology and beyond.

Robinson says the chance to shape a government relations offer inside an ambitious independent agency was hard to resist.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at an important growth moment for the business. I totally share One Plus One’s conviction that better stories make better businesses, and the way you show up, whether it be on the 6pm news, in our social feeds, in an investor pack, or in the Beehive, needs to be joined up and compelling.
