AUCKLAND, Today: oOh!media New Zealand has renewed its Christchurch City Council Metro Services bus shelter advertising contract, effective from today, 1 April.

The deal keeps oOh!’s street furniture presence in Christchurch in place, while also pushing the city’s network further into digital.

Under the renewed agreement, the number of digital panels across Christchurch will grow to more than 100, giving advertisers greater reach and more flexibility across the market.

The move also lifts oOh!’s digital footprint across its wider street furniture network, creating more room for dynamic campaigns, programmatic trading and faster campaign responses.

Christchurch remains an important part of oOh!’s national street furniture offering, sitting alongside the company’s premium retail portfolio across New Zealand.

Together, those environments give advertisers the ability to run more consistent campaigns across commuter routes and high-dwell retail locations, now with stronger digital scale in Christchurch.

For advertisers, the expanded network means broader reach and better efficiency across key suburban and commuter locations in the city.

According to knOOH, oOh!’s Christchurch street network reaches more than 518,000 people every fortnight, representing 86% of Cantabrians.

“This contract renewal recognises the strong performance of an established network that is already delivering for advertisers and the city.” – Kelly Harvey, Head of oOh!media New Zealand

That gives brands strong market coverage, while the larger digital inventory adds more flexibility, smarter targeting and stronger programmatic capability.

Kelly Harvey, Head of oOh!media New Zealand, said the renewal reflects the strength of the existing network and oOh!’s ability to operate and commercialise major street furniture assets.

“This contract renewal recognises the strong performance of an established network that is already delivering for advertisers and the city,” she said.

“The increased digitisation of the Christchurch network will significantly enhance coverage and reach, strengthening the city’s role within our broader national street and retail offering and enabling more dynamic, data-led and programmatic campaigns.”

The Christchurch network includes more than 400 advertising panels across the city, spanning key commuter routes and busy suburban areas.

As part of the renewal, oOh! will also continue targeted maintenance and upgrade work in line with council requirements.

That includes the introduction of energy-efficient LED technology across bus shelters and small-format assets, a first for New Zealand, aimed at improving asset quality, lifespan and sustainability.

For agencies, the renewed contract keeps Christchurch connected to a more consistent national street and retail offer, making multi-market planning and buying simpler.
