AUCKLAND, Today: PHD New Zealand has brought in Sam Sherson as Chief Technology Officer, a new role designed to sharpen the agency’s focus on data, technology and smarter client solutions.
Sherson started on 20 January 2026 and reports to CEO Abby Parkin. He will lead technical innovation, deepen client relationships and build strategic partnerships with external stakeholders across Aotearoa.
The role puts Sherson in charge of bringing together PHD’s data, analytics and technology capabilities to create more advanced client solutions and provide strategic technology advice.
He will also help identify emerging technologies and partners that can keep the agency ahead of the curve and strengthen its offer in market.
Sherson brings more than 20 years of experience across New Zealand and the UK, working across digital marketing, data analytics, media strategy and technology innovation.
His background includes senior roles at Tracksuit, Overdose Digital, Unruly/Nexxen and The Guardian, alongside consulting and SaaS ventures supporting commercial and not-for-profit organisations.

With Sherson now in place, PHD New Zealand is looking to further accelerate its data and technology capability, blending technology and creativity more closely to deliver stronger business outcomes for clients.
