Ozzy Osbourne takes over Auckland skyline for The Rock 2000 showdown

AUCKLAND, Today: Hundreds of thousands of Kiwi rock fans cast their votes again this year for The Rock 2000 — the month-long countdown where 2,000 tracks are analysed daily, celebrated like sport, and worshipped like religion.

Topping the list for 2025 was ‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath. To celebrate, The Rock lit up Auckland’s 328m Sky Tower with Ozzy Osbourne’s face, blasting it across the skyline in true rock ’n’ roll style.

The Rock 2000 smashed records this year: more than 117,000 voters cast almost two million votes, online and app radio streams jumped 54%, and live event views soared 78% to 442,000.

The countdown closed with a sell-out celebration at Spark Arena, proving once again that The Rock 2000 is more than a list — it’s a nationwide rock ritual.
